Come home to yourself

Between how we’re socialized and early life experiences, it can be difficult to know what we want and how we feel, let alone accept ourselves, and communicate our needs. We can become disconnected from ourselves, our bodies, and our values, instead feeling insecure and unworthy.

Whatever has gotten in the way of being at home with yourself, it is possible to feel more connection and peace with who you are. You can cultivate self-acceptance and trust in yourself. Instead, many of the strategies we use, like perfectionism and people pleasing, do the opposite, leading to greater disconnection from the self and overwhelm. Life will always have its difficulties but we can learn how to be our own secure base, providing the safety, and kind support needed to effectively navigate what comes our way.

SELF-ACCEPTANCE

Develop a kind relationship with yourself- the type of relationship you want to return to, change your relationship to shame and the inner-critic, and cultivate self-compassion.

COUPLES THERAPY

We all desire to feel seen, understood, and deeply connected, and yet this can be the most difficult in our partnerships, with life stressors and the wounding that occurs over time. Couples therapy is an opportunity to build something new.

BOUNDARIES

It can be difficult to balance our needs with the needs of others. Codependency, poor boundaries, and people pleasing, can all be signs of an out of balance dynamic and often stems from previous relational trauma. Let me support you in showing up more authentically.

ANXIETY/DEPRESSION

Anxiety and depression are painful experiences in this life, and yet how we respond, through avoidance or harshness towards ourselves, creates more suffering. Cultivate more flexible ways of responding that connect you back to your life.

I’m Miriam, welcome, I’m so glad you’ve arrived!

People only seriously consider change when they feel accepted for exactly who they are. - Carl Rogers

Beginning therapy and looking inwards can be scary and overwhelming, which is why a stance of being non-judgmental, approachable, accepting, and gentle, is central to how I work.
